Declared a National Park in 1984 and listed on the National Heritage list in 2006
for its outstanding natural beauty and its geological diversity, the Grampians
National Park (Gariwerd) is an oasis amongst the agricultural western district
of Victoria.
The 1700 square kilometres National Park support around a third of Victoria’s plant species
and form a safe haven for many marsupials and mammals.
Outlandish rock architecture is covered with gently
undulating native forest. Wildlife is abundant, the air
is crisp and during winter and spring, the park vibrates
with colour and endemic wildflowers. |
